Having
decided to specialise in Geriatrics he became a Consultant at Ryhope General Hospital,
Sunderland and Leicester General Hospital followed by a post in Grantham & District
hospital, Lincolnshire, where he developed and practised his ideas of enhancing the
quality of life and delaying the start of old age. He was persuaded to transfer to the
Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, Lincs to continue this work until he retired in 1994 having
spent 20 years as a Consultant Geriatrician in England.
In 1993 he represented Great
Britain in Japan at the World Health Organization Conference on "Quality of Life of
the Elderly"
In 1995 he was
awarded the British Geriatric Society Presidents medal.
Since retairing from
the NHS in Britain in 1994 he has continued with private research and in 2001 started a
Preventive medical clinic for the elderly in India.
